Are benefit cheats stealing?

There is a very big issue that is going on and that is benefit thieves. The department for work and pensions (DWP) state that over £800 million was stolen out of the tax payer's money from people who fail to state the truth about themselves.
You are committing fraud if you don't tell the DWP that:

  • you are living with a partner

  • Making savings or not telling them the right amount

  • children have left home

  • you have started work,or about any earnings

  • you have inherited money

  • you are going abroad,

  • living abroad

  • you have changed your address

This means that somewhere a thief is sunning them self with your money or buying that beautiful car you always wanted.
There are many reasons for people wanted to do this, mainly greed, but with the current economic meltdown maybe they are doing it for a little bit more financial help.
The DWP are trying to crack down on this and hopefully bring them to justice...we hope!

Do you think that benefit frauds are theives and do it for greed? or do you think they are doing it through despiration due to credit crunch?
